INTRODUCTION TO MONITOR

 INTRODUCTION  TO MONITOR

Monitor is an electronic visual computer display that includes a screen, circuitry  and the in which circuitry is enclosed.

A monitor is also known  as a screen or a visual display unit.

Screen is a generic  term for displays in all sorts of situations like TV screen, cinema screen ,projector screen etc.Monitor refers specifically to a computer peripheral that incorporate a screen.

MAIN TYPES OF MONITOR:

1.CRT...Cathode Ray Tube

2.LCD...Liquid Crystal Display

3.LED...Light Emitting Diode

1.Cathode Ray Tube Monitor:

A CRT monitor is an analog display unit that creates a visible image on the screen by directing three electron beams.

A CRT monitor contains millions of tiny red, green and blue phosphor dots that glow when struck by an electron beam that travels across the screen to create a visible image.

There are three ways to filter the electron beam in order to obtain the correct image on the monitor screen. They are shadow mask, aperture grill and slot mask.

2.Liquid Crystal Display:

LCD  is a type of flat panel display which uses liquid crystals in its primary form of operation.

A  display is made up of millions of pixels. The quality of display commonly refers to the number of pixels. A pixel is made up of three subpixels. Red, Blue and Green are commonly called as RGB.

When the subpixels in a pixel change colour combinations  , a different colour can be produced. All the pixels on a display working together, the display can make millions of different colours.

3.Light Emitting Diode Monitor:

LED  monitor is a flat screen, flat panel computer monitor. It had a very short depth and is light in terms of weight.

They run at lower temperature and consume much less power as few as 20 watts. It has longer life span and less environmental impact.

Advantages:

LED  Monitors are energy efficient and generally last longer than LCD Monitors..

They are also thinner  and lighter, making them ideal for saving space.

The overall image quality of an LED Monitor is Superior as well.
